Hello All, I am Ayush R. Mokashi, an M.Sc. Physics student (2023–2025) at the Department of Physics, MNIT Jaipur—a place that has not only sharpened my academic edge but has also shaped my research interests and provided a clear direction to my scientific journey. The department offers much more than just a degree—it offers an environment of intellectual freedom, interdisciplinary exploration, and scientific rigor. Supported by 14 dynamic and research-focused faculty members, the department fosters a vibrant culture where curiosity is encouraged, and ambitions are nurtured. The well-structured coursework strikes a fine balance between theoretical understanding and experimental application—ideal for students aspiring toward research, competitive exams such as CSIR-NET, GATE, JEST, BARC, as well as placements and government services. It was here that my passion for experimental quantum science and technology found both structure and momentum. My journey here was not just about textbooks and exams—it was about building a mindset for inquiry and innovation. Thanks to the department’s support and guidance, I was able to enhance my technical and research skills through: • An Internship at IIT Madras, which introduced me to cutting-edge experimental techniques in photonics. • Participate in the REYES 2024 Program at UC Berkeley, USA, where I focused on scientific computing using Python. • Awarded the Samsung Fellowship under the India Semiconductor Workforce Development Program at IISc Bangalore, gaining crucial insight into India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem. • Invited to present my M.Sc. thesis at the 12th BPU Congress in Romania (July 2025)—a proud moment of international recognition. As a PG Representative in the Students’ Welfare Committee and being involved in co-curricular clubs helped me develop leadership, communication, and collaboration skills that are vital for a holistic career in science. As I bid farewell, I carry with me not just knowledge but a vibrant research vision that has culminated in multiple fully funded international PhD offers, including: • Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics, Halle, Germany • Leibniz Institute for Solid-State and Materials Research, Dresden, Germany • Institute of Science and Technology, Austria • Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary (via the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship) I am thankful to the academic rigor, institutional vision, and inclusive culture of the Department of Physics, MNIT Jaipur. It has been an honor to be part of this lively academic community. If you’re aspiring to grow in physics and shape a research-driven career, I wholeheartedly recommend choosing this department as your next destination. Wishing you all the very best in your journey ahead!
"CRITICAL THINKING - Not only read but analyse deeply whatever you read, to gain the actual essence of physics in different aspects of life" - This is one of the most important belief that all the respected faculties of Department of Physics, MNIT Jaipur urges in, to successfully shape the future of students who aspire to master the knowledge of physics. MNIT Jaipur has been a crucial milestone in my academic journey which has shaped my approach of looking towards physics, not only as a subject but something that is the very basis of this whole world. The highly motivating teachers have taught me that doing a physics degree is more than just learning physics equations and lab work. Each respected faculty of Physics department MNIT jaipur have their own method of teaching physics, which helped me challenge myself and build up my ability to look at physics from different aspects. The excellent course work distribution, inclusion of knowledge via excellent books, exposure to experiments during lab classes, the mind boggling vivas conducted by teachers, multiple options available for elective courses as well as the high quality research exposure via MSc thesis work has been instrumental in reforming our future as a student. It has helped me clear competetive examinations like GATE and CSIR NET. I am wholeheartedly thankful for providing me the opportunity to publish my first research paper on experimental work conducted as part of SML research group during my masters. This motivated me to further pursue research in physics and hence i landed a research scholar position at IIT Ropar for pursuing PhD in Physics. The 2 years at MNIT Jaipur, as a part of Physics department and the enriching learning experience with the help of the respected teachers has been instrumental in reforming me as a individual as well as my academic journey.
“Success is a journey, not a destination,” is a quote that guided me through my time at MNIT Jaipur. At MNIT’s Department of Physics, this philosophy became a reality. From the day I joined in 2022, I felt that each step – from foundational courses to cutting-edge research projects – was part of a meaningful journey. The institute’s supportive environment and resources shaped my progress at every stage. I graduated with a deep sense of gratitude and pride, knowing that MNIT Jaipur played a defining role in my success. The curriculum at MNIT was exceptionally well-balanced between theoretical learning and practical application. Early on, we built a strong conceptual foundation in core physics. At the same time, extensive laboratory work and projects connected those theories to real-life problems. This blend, from basic principles to advanced topics, allowed me to master complex subjects with confidence. A crucial part of this journey was the dedicated faculty. Their guidance and mentorship helped me excel in national-level competitive exams. With their support, I prepared rigorously and achieved very good ranks in GATE, JEST, and CSIR NET-JRF. I experienced that faculty were always available to clarify doubts, suggest study strategies, and motivate me. Their involvement made a huge difference in my academic achievements and exam performance. During my M.Sc., I was privileged to be selected for a paid research internship at IIT Madras. There I worked on supercapacitors, gaining invaluable hands-on experience. I also had the opportunity to assist and participate in ICTN-KLC 2023, an international conference on thin films and nanotechnology. In addition, I attended various workshops and conferences held on campus, which significantly broadened my exposure to current research trends and enabled me to connect with leading experts, peer researchers, and the global academic community. For my master’s project, I worked on developing high-resolution photosensing technology using topological insulating materials for detecting, measuring, and analyzing different physical and chemical analytes at room temperature. This project helped me realize that I am passionate about experimental discovery, which led me to the next step in my academic career. Motivated by this passion, I applied to Ph.D. programs across India. I am happy to report that I received offers from several premier institutes, including IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, IIT Jodhpur, and others. This multitude of offers reflects not only my hard work but also the strong preparation I received at MNIT. Outside academics, campus life at MNIT was transformative. I took part in student committees and clubs, which helped me develop leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. My diverse friendships and committee work improved my ability to work with others, to present ideas clearly, and to empathize with different perspectives. These experiences, alongside rigorous academics, honed my soft skills just as much as my technical ones. Above all, MNIT Jaipur shaped me not only as a professional physicist but also as a responsible, empathetic individual. The department’s mission emphasizes nurturing leadership qualities and sensitivity to social development in students. I feel this every day: I am better prepared to use my knowledge for the welfare of society and to collaborate ethically with others. I remain deeply grateful to the faculty and staff who trusted me, to my peers who inspired me, and to MNIT Jaipur for providing such a holistic growth environment. My journey from a budding student of physics to a confident researcher exemplifies MNIT Jaipur’s commitment to student success. I will carry this pride and gratitude forward as I step into the next phase of my academic career. I’m proud to be an alumna of this incredible department, and I know it will continue to nurture bright minds and compassionate hearts for generations to come.
